List-Group-Label (LGL)
List-Group-Label involves students sorting and categorizing vocabulary words and then connecting them with new words or words already known to the student.
Taba (1967) found that the LGL strategy encouraged students to use inductive reasoning via categorizing vocabulary words. When implementing the LGL strategy, it is also important to discuss vocabulary terms in their context and to revisit the terms during and after readings in order to avoid words being in categories that don't suit the curriculum (Meyerson, Ford, Jones, & Ward, 1991).
